Nirsh an'Kharh  graduated in 2354 from Starfleet Academy and entered his first commission on the science vessel U.S.S. Pecoma as helmsman. During the science mission Nirsh an'Kharh disembarked the U.S.S. Pecoma on Deep Space 7. The reason he gave was he needed to find the meaning of his life and resigned his Starfleet commission.

Not much is known about the next 15 years. Nirsh an'Kharh had several jobs around the Alpha Quadrant and learned spaceflight like no other Vulcan ever before. Starfleet Intelligence spotted him several times along the Klingon and Romulan borders in company with rogue privateers.

Just before the death of his father Nirsh an'Kharh returned to Vulcan. Rumors say Starfleet Intelligence found him on request of his brother. After the burial of his father Nirsh an'Kharh was requested to rejoin Starfleet by Admiral T'Sul.

Nirsh an'Kharh learned a lot which is not taught at the Academy. During his search to find the meaning of his life he lived "on the wrong side of town." Hand-to-hand combat, small arms, strange dialects and languages, first aid, contraband and banned substances are no stranger to him. He has a lot of hidden talents.
