Name: Vanier K. Lee
Sex: Male
Origin: Human
Place of birth: Port Louis, Earth
Personal History:
Lee was born in 2339 on the Terran island of Mauritius where at an early age, he showed an interest in aviation and military history. In primary and secondary education, he played basketball and co-captained the school tennis team. As an entry candidate to Starfleet Academy, Lee wrote a paper entitled "Non-Warp Flight of Spacefaring Intergalactic Societies." It failed to place in the Cochrane Young Science Award. Nevertheless, in 2357, Starfleet Academy accepted his application, due in part to his father's reputation.

During his tenure at the Academy, Lee studied Flight Control and Tactical Strategy, focusing primarily on the latter. He trained command-officer-in-line in his final year after a peer's accident placed him at the forefront of Cadet Squadron Liberty. Lee's final year treatise, "Starship Operations Battlefield Guideline to Crisis and Power Resources Distribution" earned him a commendation for original thinking.

Lee was transferred in 2361 upon graduation to the Galaxy-class starship U.S.S. Atlantis, where he served for two years as a security officer and three as its Chief Security Officer. In 2365, during his final year aboard the ship, a change-of-command occurred that resulted in a mutiny involving 31 officers, including Lee.

During the court martial that followed, Lee was charged on three counts: treason, conspiracy, and conduct unbecoming an officer. He was found guilty of the latter two but avoided serving his sentence in a penal facility, primarily due to the defense utilized by his father, Dale Lee.

Vanier Lee remained in Starfleet, next posting in 2366 aboard an old Miranda-class starship, U.S.S. Lacolle. In an unusual and unprecedented move, Starfleet stripped him of his officer's status and made him a crewman and "Research Fellow" of the exobiology department.

After two years, Lee left Starfleet and returned to Earth in 2368, where he spent another two years apprenticing in his father's firm.

In 2370, Starfleet Command invoked the seldom-used Emergency Powers Act in order to quell the Maquis uprising. Surprisingly, Lee applied to reinstate his officer status and was posted as Tactical Officer aboard the Sovereign-class vessel U.S.S. Cavalier.

After the Maquis emergency, Lee was offered the position of Executive Officer. He accepted in 2372, at the start of the Dominion War.

He served in that capacity until 2375, when Admiral T'Sul offered him command of the Starship Astoria.

Notation to Service Record:
During a recent medical emergency, physicians at Deep Space Nine discovered that Capt. Lee's memories about the incident aboard the Atlantis were altered by Starfleet Command.

(The following information is classified security clearance 2 and above.)

Lee along with crew members from a Starfleet Task Force, investigating early Dominion activity, were captured and subjected to Dominion questioning. Lee escaped along with a few dozen other survivors from the task force.

Failing to recondition the survivors of the failed Dominion task force, Starfleet chose to erase and implant false memories of their experiences during this period.

Lee's original memories resurfaced, and no further memory augmentation has been performed.

His original service record has been changed to reflect this new information.
